Music at the Plough Inn

From its very beginnings, Jazz has been the sound-symbol of liberty: a sort of cultural melting pot which proposes a richer life through fusion and improvisation. It says, ‘Let’s work together!’ This is “Jazz Appeal”, personified by the likes of Bessie Smith, Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Chet Baker and many other Jazz icons who found in Jazz their medium of self-expression.

The attraction goes on, and we can still live it today through new melodies inspired by new cultures and their music. Innovation perpetuates the music. Today’s melting pot is populated by new virtuoso artistes and musical improvisers. The music is as dynamic and unpredictable as the times in which it is rooted.

Here at the Plough Inn every Sunday we have live Jazz performed by some of Shropshire's best including:

Chase Jazzmen
Geoff James quartet
Hannah Lockerman band
